Friday 2nd of October — Mike Silver & Julie Boreham (Members £9 / Non-members £11)

We’re kicking off the Autumn/Winter season in fine style with an absolute gem of the acoustic world. If you’ve not yet had the pleasure, you’re in for a treat.

The Woodman folk club is proud to present Mike Silver. Mike is an unbelievably talented singer/songwriter and guitarist, whose immense talent has taken him all over the world entertaining not just Folk, but mainstream audiences too. Mike has also enjoyed much notoriety through frequent air-play on BBC Radio2 and more and also through highly successful musical collaborations too.

This will in fact be Mike’s fourteenth visit to the club since the start of this century. After many years of hard work Mike became an ‘overnight’ success when the late Terry Wogan on Radio 2 played his song “A Matter of Pride” extensively. Mike is probably one of the most popular performers on the folk scene and his visits to The Woodman invariably become one of the highlights of the year.

This year Mike will be joined on-stage for the second half of the show by the marvellous Julie Boreham, described by Mike himself as, “his much better-half”. Twice the treat!

Naturally he'll have some excellent goodies’ on sale so check out the merchandise table too.

Friday 9th October — Wonderful Woodman Singers’ Night (Members £2 / Non-members £3)

Tonight, will be yet another of our legendary Singers Nights. You definitely need to get there early to book your spot as Singers' Nights are very popular and slots are limited. Friday 16th October — Anthony John Clarke (Members £9 / Non-members £11)

We are privileged to have THE master singer song-writer, troubadour and comic mega-star, Mr Anthony John Clarke and his two cohorts’, Julia Porter on Keyboards & Derry Jones on Bass.

AJ is not only a superb musician; he’s also an amazing entertainer. His outstanding self-penned material takes us on wonderous journeys through comforting nostalgia, quiet contemplation, reflective sorrow, rising to sublime hilarity and there’s even a smidgen of good old folk-rock to bop along with too.

Julia enriches everything that AJ does using her consummate keyboard skills, velvet-smooth harmonies, and quick-fire wickedly funny interjections. A larger-than-life personality who is a real tour-de-force in her own right!

Derry will be on his trusty bass guitar, rolling with the punch lines and widening the depth of the overall soundscape, (in more ways than one), waiting in the background for opportunities to have a little sip of something nice and maybe, slip in a one-liner or two!

Friday 23rd October — Lost Notes (Members £10 / Non-members £12)

Hold on to your seats! Tonight, we have the irrepressible, uber-talented Lost Notes!

Fresh from their exhaustive and highly successful tour of the folk clubs, village halls, town halls, and folk festivals of Olde England and even gigs as far away as Espania, the Lost Notes are without doubt, one of the most exciting bands to have exploded on to the UK and now European, folk scene in years.

What can we expect? Superb three-part harmony vocals, beautifully scripted original songs, impressive professional musicianship, explosive stage presence and bags and bags of on-stage energy that radiates from them to you and anyone else who is lucky enough to be standing within 100 meters!

Be prepared to dance like you are 18 again!

Mick Ryan and Paul Downes are a highly regarded duo on the British folk and acoustic music scene. They are known for their blend of traditional material, featuring Mick Ryan’s original songwriting, and Paul Downes’ intricate instrumental work.
