On Friday the 9th of January we look forward to an exciting 2026 starting
with the first Wonderful Woodman Singers’ Night! You definitely need to
get there early to book your spot as Singers' Nights are very popular
and slots are limited Alternatively, to be sure, it would be best to
book a spot in advance by contacting Debby & Derry - contact details are
on the home page. Please note that if you have pre-booked a spot you
need to be at the club before 20:00 hrs to confirm, or the slot may be
re-allocated. Then on Friday the 16th of January at 20:30 hrs, we have the fabulous Eddy Morton. Yes folks, we feature a welcome return of our own Stourbridge lad Eddy Morton! Eddy has appeared fairly regularly over many years now, primarily several appearances with the brilliant Bushburys (or The New Bushbury Mountain Daredevils if your memory stretches back that far), more recently as a solo act and if my memory serves me right I believe he’s also appeared with other brilliant musicians in the past – but don’t quote me on that. Tonight he is in solo mode as far as we know...but then who knows, he likes to keep us guessing, however a first rate show is guaranteed in any event. Racing along to the next fantastic Friday: On Friday the 23rd of January, at 20:30 hrs, Once again we are extremely pleased to be able to bring you firm club favourites, The John Richards Band. It’s been just a year since they last appeared with us and we welcome them back with open arms. The current line-up of the band alongside John will be Jim Sutton, Emma Jones, and Kathleen Ord. John always puts on a good show in whatever guise so be sure to catch this one, it’ll be worth it! The band will have a selection of CD’s for sale, including their latest, 'Hard Times & Heroes', which will certainly be available to purchase from the merch table, along with lots of earlier stuff. So great to have such wonderful local talent and celebrated songwriter at our disposal and tonight will surely be a delight! Tonight will be an extra-special treat because our revered Videographer, John Bailey, will be videoing the JRB's live and I will be recording the whole live gig in glorious stereo, to produce a promo-vid for the band to use, going forward into a very bright future. So come along and cheer and clap and sing along and be part of the amazing JRB's story! On Friday, the 30th January, at 20:30 hrs, we welcome the return of a much-loved duo, friends and highly respected performers, Ruth & Ken Powell. Ruth & Ken Powell, come to us from the beautiful Welsh countryside, just next door to Lake Vyrnwy. A formidable pairing, two thirds of ‘Risky Business’ but now an excellent duo, they have played the Woodman many times before and were last with us in February '24. As well as being a masterful guitarist Ken is also a superb luthier and you can bet that tonight’s instruments will all be of his own construction. Just a note: Ken has retired from building guitars nowadays, so regrettably you can’t buy new “Powell Guitars” any more. Ruth is just simply a brilliant vocalist and together they make superb choices to do excellent covers of much-loved classics. Ruth & Ken Powell will put on a show that will leave you wanting more and more. Ruth & Ken are the consummate professionals, but watch out, they do like a laugh!
