(Review taken from Derry's Facebook Post) Tonight were treated to,” the most wonderful and refreshingly unique talents of one of the most gifted duos on the folk circuit today.” Yes, I said it then and I’m saying it again, Paul Walker & Karen Pfeiffer really are a class-act. The musicianship is second to none, in fact if you closed your eyes, you would easily imagine several talented musicians on-stage instead of two. Paul has a precise fingerstyle and finger-pick guitar style that is perfectly timed, synchronised, and tuned to Karren’s beautifully melodious woodwind skills. Karren has the most wonderful folk/jazz/classical voice that fills the room and even at a whisper, she has the audience entranced, hanging on the next line. Paul has a wonderfully modern folk vocal style that has superbly evolved from its origins in the folk tradition. Simply the best! Our very-own mega-talented Dick Woodhouse opened the festivities for us, with a superb selection of much-loved classics, both modern and traditional. Oh, and a few rib-tickling if not slightly irreverent comedic songs. Ah, just right! MC Bryn was at the helm yet again, manfully taking charge and leading us safely through the night. Thanks to Bryn. Also, a massive thanks to the Techy-up and Techy-down teams, the AV by Mr Gary, and Mr John B, and last but not least the wonderful bar staff at Ashwood Marina. Enjoy Yourself! Derry & Deb xx |
