(Review taken from Derry's Facebook Post) Yet another absolutely incredible night at The Woodman Folk Club. What a remarkable band The Rosellys are. All 5-members are just superb musicians, playing at the top of their game. As they started a stunning wall of sound swept throughout the audience and filled the room with excited anticipation. Then, as the opening sonic wave washed over us, a joyous second sortie of perfect harmonies swirled about and lifted the whole place into a state of pure musical marvel. Every song was a celebration of the Cajun, Country, Folk and Americana genres. The violin riffs danced around the graceful steel pedal slide guitar, seamlessly swapping partners to sway to and fro with the subtle banjo groove. The rumbling bass-lines stepped in perfect time with the refined heartbeat of the drums and the classic country harmony vocal lifted the crystal-clear lead vocals until they soared above the room with precise clarity. Definitely the best UK Country/Folk band I have ever experienced. Pure genius! As always, the evening was Opened by one of our top Woodmanite stars; our much-revered Woodmanite, Rob Hill. Rob provided us with a skilfully constructed, expertly played and brilliantly entertaining set. We are truly blessed to have such skilful home-grown talent at the Woodman and Rob Hill is a fine exponent. MC Bryn was awesome as usual. Thanks to John Bailey and Mr Gary for covering all things AV. Also, thanks to the Techy-up & Techy-down teams whose skill and hilarious banter do more than just lighten the load. The marvellous Ashwood Marina bar staff and early-evening customers work extremely hard to support the club and keep us all fed & watered, so a massive thank you to those wonderful people too! Enjoy Yourself! Derry & Deb xx |
