(Review taken from Derry's Facebook Post) Tonight will go down as one of the most fabulous nights at The Woodman Folk Club ever. The incredible Mr Joe Topping presented us with two, 45-minute slices of musical heaven. From start to finish it was a wholly awe-inspiring performance, that left the audience in absolutely no doubt that they had just witnessed the very best of British talent. Joe has a voice clearer than Stourbridge Crystal and an energised stage-presence that burned brighter than the Arc Furnaces of Round Oak Steel Works. Joe is a phenomenal multi-instrumentalist, his precise, imaginative and beautifully melodic playing style, both fascinated and enthralled the audience. Joe has a pure, soulful and a pin-point accurately-pitched, mega-powerful voice with an awesome vocal range that would be the envy of all professional performers. Mr Joe Topping; a phenomenal performer that transcends the usual labels we apply to music, and takes us all on a magical journey to Folk & Beyond! The courageous Mr Dick Woodhouse, strutted forth to go boldly where others fear to play! Yes, it must have been a bit daunting for a single voice and guitar act to open for a Folk legend, but Dick is yer man that can. And he did! Dick, provided us with a comprehensive collection of folk and contemporary gems, all much-loved and recalled from our formative folk heritage. Presenting the audience with intricate fingerstyle guitar, Dick displayed expert guitar picks, faultlessly delivered, and all accompanied by the voice of extensive experience. He is a clever chappy! MC Bryn mastered the ceremonies in his usual professional style and kept everyone on an even keel. Thanks to Gary and John B, for the photos/AV and to the Techy-up/Techy-down team too.
