(Review taken from Derry's Facebook Post) Tonight a little bit of Georgia came to The Woodman Folk Club and boy was it good! Brooks Williams came to town and blew us all away with his supreme skills on the old Six Stringer and rounded us up into one happy bunch with his smooth vocalising. Seriously though folks. It was one hell of a night to remember. All of the aforementioned talents were in-play and of course his convivial American humour had us all laughing, joking and singing along, just like it used to be in the good old days. Brooks is a class act, so if you missed him at the Woodman, definitely go and see him elsewhere. You know you're worth it!! The marvellous Velvet Green opened the show with a set based on local artistes. As usual they, (Paul & Sue Mathews), did us proud. Such a wealth of talented songwriters featured in their excellent set, including one of Paul’s songs, and quite right too! The Woodman’s own “Magister Officiorum” MC Bryn, took a joyful hold of the proceedings and with a steady hand and even steadier nerves’, guided the evening to a wonderfully gleeful conclusion. Many thanks to the Techy-up and Techy-down teams and to Mr Gary and Mr John, on the AV kit. As always, our happy harmonious hostelry was manned and served by the Amazing Ashwood Marina team. Thanks to you all. |
