(Review taken from Derry's Facebook Post) Tonight we saw the excellent Andy Richards Band at The Woodman. It was there first gig performing for The Woodman audience, but it certainly won’t be their last. The Andy Richards Band presented us with the finest example of modern “Indi-folk” you will ever hear. Their excellent presentation of outstanding, original songs was interesting, impressive, exciting, and thoroughly enjoyable. The UK Folk-scene needs a variety of musical delights in it’s armoury, from traditional, contemporary, blues, jazz, rock, comedic, and now Indi, I think the world of Folk is much more musically diverse and stronger than it’s been for a very long time. In my opinion, Folk is now poised for yet another revival, and it’s down to acts like the Andy Richards Band, broadening the fan-base, and appealing to younger audiences. Nice One! MC Bryn swapped hats and became Bryn Phillips the Songster and Raconteur, to start the evening with a superb array of hyper-fantastical songs from his massively diverse repertoire. Superb! Many thanks to the many “little helpers” who are the life-blood of the club and to the staff, customers, and friends of The Ashwood Marina, for all their support, Beer, Wine, and Pork Scratchings, (sound like the title of NTP 3.0’s new album)!! We love you all. Enjoy Yourself! Derry & Deb xx |
