Woodman end of season Newsletter

Well here we are again, running up towards the closure of the club for the summer & festival season and whaddya know………..it’s raining, day in & day out!

Still at least it’s dry indoors which is as good a reason as any to get down to the club and catch the few remaining Friday nights before we shut till September.

Friday 24th June is another of our legendary Singers’ Nights. Don’t be disappointed, these singers nights are normally over-subscribed so do please contact Debby or Derry on 01384 560462 to ensure you get a floor spot, we have a maximum of 14 slots. Alternatively just come and enjoy the talent on display. A great night is guaranteed!

Then on the 1st of July we bid a welcome return to The Jigantics. This will be the second visit to the club from this lively five piece folk/rock band who are guaranteed to get your toes tapping and shakers a’shakin’! They went down so well last time that a return booking was on the cards immediately. The line up is basically guitar, fiddle, bass, mandolin and drums but with the odd variation thrown in just to make it more interesting. Combined with powerful vocals this night will be sure to appeal to the Woodman crowd……...just don’t expect to be quietly serenaded off to sleep!!

Friday 8th July CLUB CLOSED as a substantial number of us will be swanning off to the sunnier climes of Bromsgrove for their annual shindig, Bromsgrove Folk Festival.

And finally, the 15th July will be our last Friday night of the current season and will be rounded off nicely by The Bev Pegg Band. For the last few years Bev and the band have closed our programme for the summer break and this year will be no exception. If you haven’t seen Bev before you will be in for a treat. He’s a very talented singer, excellent guitarist and always manages to surround himself with a superb bunch of musicians. A local bloke (Cradley), his performance will include original folk style numbers as well as little ventures into bluegrass, skiffle and jazz- and as a bonus - he is extremely funny! Bring a clean pair of knickers; you’ll need ‘em!

That will be all folks so enjoy the summer break and we’ll see you all again when you roll up in your droves to renew your memberships on September the 16th! Till then, Cheers………………
