Hi Folks,

Well we may have had five Fridays in May but my goodness, they’ve flown by and June is almost upon us. Soon be Christmas at this rate!! Anyway, back to the normal four club nights in June so eyes down, look in and check out what delights we have in store for you……….

Friday 6th June we are pleased to welcome back to the club our good friend and occasional sound man, Pete Boddis. Pete has been a regular performer at the club for a good while both solo, with his band and also on singers’ nights. His relaxed, easy style and interpretations of both his own songs and country music standards is simply a joy to listen to. Goodness knows what he’ll bring with him, he has probably the largest collection of various instruments of anyone I know, but whatever it is, rest assured it will be finely played and beautifully accompanied with his rich baritone vocals.

Then on the 13th we are proud to host Mr Dave Gibb, all the way from bonny Scotland just to entertain you lucky people! He describes himself as ‘a left-handed, balding, middle aged, songwriting folky from Scotland’s highest village’ and that’s a pretty good summing up really. If you managed to catch him at Bromsgrove Folk Festival last year then you’ll know what you’re in for. If not come along and find out – you will not be disappointed, I guarantee it! An excellent singer songwriter and no mean guitar picker either. Oh, and he does like a giggle!

On the 20th, all the way from Statesboro, Georgia (but now, resident in the UK), we have Brooks Williams. This will be Brooks’s first visit to the club but having seen him on several occasions in the past both solo and in the duo State of the Union with Boo Hewerdine I can tell you that you are in for a real treat. Brooks is a master of the guitar - rated in the world’s top 100 - and an excellent singer songwriter. He records on his own record label and these days seems more at home with blues and Americana styles. He has an enormous back catalogue of over 20 CD’s from his 25+ years of making music and he’s sure to travel home with a lighter load than he came with!.

Finally the 27th is another of our legendary Singers’ Nights. Don’t be disappointed, these nights are normally over-subscribed so do please contact Debby or Derry on 01384 560462 to ensure you get a floor spot, we have a maximum of 14 slots. Alternatively just come and enjoy the talent on display. A great night is guaranteed!

And another month bites the dust…………..Cheers folkers!
