Hi Folks,

Once again we have five Fridays in May, a bonus week thrown in!!
As per usual we have some excellent entertainment lined up so check out the list, fill up your Friday night diaries and get on down to the clubhouse!

Friday 2nd May is one of our legendary Singersí Nights. Donít be disappointed, these singers nights are normally over-subscribed so do please contact Debby or Derry on 01384 560462 to ensure you get a floor spot, we have a maximum of 14 slots. Alternatively just come and enjoy the talent on display. A great night is guaranteed!

The 9th brings us one of our all too infrequent Residentís Showcase Nights.
You all know our resident artists, Nothing to Prove, Dick Woodhouse, Barry & Corinne, Velvet Green and Bryn Phillips and tonight they will each be performing a feature length performance. Be amused, entertained, moved, saddened, cheered and amazed, but not necessarily in that particular order. Most important of all, don't forget your shakers!

Then on the 16th we are welcoming Keith & Tim Judson. Keith and Tim, (father and son), are long standing friends of the Woodman Folk Club. A number of Keithís excellent songs touch on spiritual and social themes, as well as making connections with local stories and personal experiences. Keith delivers each song with great skill, and a wicked sense of humour! Tim is a folk singer/songwriter who is passionate about life and communicates his experiences through his playing and thought-provoking songs. Itís going to be a cracker, so donít miss it!

This brings us to the 23rd when we welcome Miranda Sykes & Rex Preston to the club for the first time. I have seen these two many times so this is a night I have long been waiting for!

You may very well already know Miranda as the third and decidedly most glamorous member of Show of Hands Ė an excellent singer, superb double-bass player and no mean guitarist either. Rex may not be as familiar a name but is widely acknowledged as the leading mandolin player in the UK. They have been delighting festival goers at folk & bluegrass events for a few years now and quite simply, they are a MUST SEE act.

Finally the 30th is another Singersí Night. Donít be disappointed, these singers nights are normally over-subscribed so do please contact Debby or Derry on 01384 560462 to ensure you get a floor spot, we have a maximum of 14 slots. Alternatively just come and enjoy the talent on display. A great night is guaranteed!

Looks like another great month of folky flavoured stuff at the Woodman, so see you there.

Cheers

Rob
