Here’s wishing you a happy, warm and Sunny Easter! (Any bets?).
As you know we are closed on Good Friday but back with a Singers’ Night on the 5th.
The following Friday, the 12th look forward to Sunjay Brayne. I’ve had a look at his gig list and he’s now booked up well into October. Come along and see Sunjay, you’ll be truly amazed at his maturity, skill and expertise; not only does he engage the audience with his exquisite guitar work but he brings a depth of meaning to all the songs he sings that belie his age.
The following week it’s Patsy Matheson and Becky Mills on the 19th. They’re new to the club and you’ll hear material from Patsy's critically acclaimed album “Stories of Angels and Guitars", and Becky's album "Dandelion" Besides wonderful songs expect rhythm from their cajons, with the occasional mandolin, Jew's harp and egg shaker.
This is the review by Arthur Duncan, when the girls played at the Bridgwater Arts Centre in March last year, “Musically, the entertainment is egalitarian throughout; alternating solos between them, backing each other with vocals & instrumentals & sometimes singing in duet. Both singers are gifted with huge ranges of voice, in pitch & timbre, complemented by their acoustic stringed instruments, & subtle percussion”.
And finally to cap April make sure you get a seat for Boo Hewerdine on the 26th. Exceptional songs, exceptional song writing, exceptional music >>>>> this is a night not to be missed! Says Boo, “With songs, the subject matter's not the most important thing - I just like to pinpoint something. It's more that feeling. You don't have to be specific or breast-beating or anything like that. They know what I'm talking about.”
That just leaves me to give you your trailer for May. Welcome back for fun and excellent lyrics from our old favourites, Quicksilver.
