In our 40th year and stronger than ever
Sorry that I have not been keeping you in touch with things so well this Summer but, as I’m sure some of you will know, I’ve not been all that well.
I hope that you are enjoying your break and are perhaps taking advantage of some of the brilliant live music that is about. Letters from the front tell me that Bromsgrove was well up to its usual very high standard and I’m particularly dis-chuffed about missing it!
Following on from Bromsgrove we have probably one of the youngest festivals in the country at the White Lion in Bridgnorth when they hold their second (free) Sabrina Festival between 6th & 8th August. Following on we have Shrewsbury on 27th – 30th August, Moseley on 3rd – 5th September and one of the elder statesmen of the festival world on 10th September at Bromyard. In addition there are the various singing and sessions clubs that continue to operate during the summer months.
The Woodman programme for the new season is starting to take shape and the confirmed guests are already in the diary. It looks like being an exciting couple of months with visits from Kevin Dempsey & Joe Broughton (Ex Albion Band), Ruth Fuga & Ken Powell (Ex Risky Business) and the lovely Flossie Malavialle. Later we have a visit from Anthony John Clarke and, of course, the Christmas Party.
Negotiations continue and news of further guests will be passed on when they are confirmed.
Next February sees our 40th Anniversary. This is being celebrated on 4th February and Ian has lined up one of the very top acts on the Folk Scene. Keep watching the web site – you will not want to miss this one!
Look forward to seeing you soon,
